Tips for Finding the Right Cycling Bicycle

There are many people who decide to cycle as a way to get from one place to another. Just because you are riding a bicycle from one point to another doesn't mean it's your preferred way to travel. Engaging in exercise is one of the overwhelming reasons that a large number of individuals choose to go cycling. The thrill of competition draws other people to the sport of cycling. And there are others who decide to take up cycling as a hobby to share with their family or friends. No matter your reason for needing to choose a bicycle, you need to consider a number of different things in order to choose the one that is right for you. You want to first and foremost, ensure that you are able to come to a stop on your bicycle, and the key to that is selecting a bicycle that allows you to rest your feet flat on the ground, when you are sitting on the seat. Some experts, however, say that this is not a good idea. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. If hop over to here your feet are sitting flat on the ground while your butt is on the seat, this usually means that the seat is too close to the crossbar and will need to be adjusted for comfort. Also, if you find that your knees are bent when sitting on the bike, your knees are going to come up too high when you are pedaling your bike. Some individuals may be surprised at the recommendation that the seat not be adjusted to the lowest setting available, which causes it to contact the crossbar. You want to adjust it up a few inches and take those inches into account when you are choosing your bike. You want to have the comfort of the seat being higher up than the crossbar on the bike, because if the seat is sitting on the crossbar, you will not be comfortable. The ideal seat height can be achieved, by ensuring that your leg is very close to completely extended, when your foot is at it's lowest position while on the pedal.

Be sure to allow room between the crossbar and yourself. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. You should be able to still rest your feet flat on the floor. Each type of bike will require differing clearance amounts. A good example is a touring bike, with these bikes you will only need around 1" difference. With a mountain bike however you will need some more, 3 inches should suffice.

Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. That is the primary goal of anyone who chooses cycling as their primary form of transportation. Safety is important when on a bike but do not overlook comfort, otherwise those long rides will soon grow tiresome.
